New website launched

Do you need help with mobility aids, getting a grant, getting some work done around the house? then look no further than at a new website aimed at helping to keep people independent in their own homes 13/08/19

The new Somerset Independent Plus website has just been launched and gives information and advice. You can make an appointment or alternatively call in on one of the drop-in days. More information on how to book an appointment and details on the drop-in days can be found on the website.Somerset Independence Plus aims to keep people safe and independent as possible in their own homes. Staff offer practical light touch solutions from small aids and equipment, minor works such as rails and ramping to much larger scale works such as wet floor showers, stairlifts and extensions. The team can assist with applying for a Disabled Facilities Grant. Some services are free, whilst others have a fee.We have an independent advice centre that is fully equipped for individuals to come and try a range of equipment before they privately purchase to ensure you are getting what is right for you. We also have a range of items from cutlery and shoe-laces to high low kitchen work tops to inform individuals, their family and carers about how they can make their lives easier and live as independently as possible. There are staff on hand to help and advise upon the options available.Somerset Independence Plus is a partnership between Sedgemoor District Council, Mendip, Somerset County Council and Somerset West and Taunton Councils offering a range of options to vulnerable people across Somerset to meet their housing related needs. Flexibility of resources (including Disabled Facilities Grants) to increase independence and better outcomes for people. The service is a joined up approach across health, housing and social care.
